SPCC
96 for 5 (Baseer 26, Aditya 23, Mani
24, Zeeshan 2-23, Amit2 2-18)
beat
SCCA 90 (Sadashiva 3-13, Kartik 2-20, Venkat 2-17, Anish -3
catches) by
5 wickets. Player of the match:
Sadashiva.
What’s up people (Translation - how are you
people) ….It was a hot and a humid day. SPCC reached the
Gastonia ground around 10.15 am. The SCCA team had only 7
players hence the two people (Deepak and Wajahath) from SPCC
team were sent over to them. Anish, we need to give these people
10 points to do such a thing. Any way, SPCC opened the bowling
(I am tired of mentioning about the toss) and they were soon
into wickets. Tarun had a good opening spell. Sadashiva called
into share the new ball. What an opening spell he too had! On
his 3rd delivery, he clean bowled Zeeshan and then the very next
ball he had the dangerous Abhi caught behind. Kudos to him.
These two wickets were enough to break SCCA backbone. Soon he
accounted for Sanjay’s wicket by shattering the stumps behind
the batsman. After 7 overs Kartik was introduced and he bowled
well to claimed wicket of another big wicket of Ashok, who was
caught behind. Anish had a decent day behind the wickets and
accounted for 3 catches.
Aditya was introduced after the drinks break and he had Wajahath
playing to a ball that he should have left alone. But give
Aditya credit for bowling such beautifully. Hence after some
more wickets SCCA was 44 for 7 in 15 overs. Deepak along with
Manish played a good steady inning and both had a partnership of
about 40 runs going. After scoring 14 runs he played a loose
shot to bowling of Venkat and was caught brilliantly by Kartik.
Kartik claimed the last wicket after introducing an edge from
Manish who was caught behind. SCCA innings was finished at 90
runs in 23.2 overs.
SPCC started with Sumeet and Mani. SCCA bowlers were bowling a
good tight length and soon sumeet was caught behind. Aditya
joined Mani in the middle. Both set about to accomplish the task
of chasing the runs. Initially after not some good strokes they
both looked well settled. Aditya in particular was playing some
excellent shots. The six that he hit was one to be seen for
ages. But then Mani fell and soon after Aditya too fell to a
loose shot. Tarun was also soon leg before wicket and Venkat was
clean bowled. Hence SPCC was soon again looking at a mini
collapse which has sought of become a norm for SPCC. Again it
was left to the Captain and Anish to finish the task. Baseer
played another good innings and finished with 26 runs. SPCC
reached the target in 23.3 overs.
Overall again it was again a good effort by SPCC players. But
want to caution everybody here guys. This was a great test for
us as to how one should adapt themselves when they play on such
a big ground. Boundaries are hard to come by hence the singles
become very important. Imagine if SCCA had a score of 150 today.
It would have become tight for us to chase the runs. I am not
blaming anybody here but the mini collapses that we have been
having of lately has got to stop. We have been lucky till now
but sooner or later luck might run out on us. So guys we got to
remember the task at hand and we need to make ourselves strong
and determined to achieve it without leaving it on anybody else.
So people let us continue this winning streak and enjoy the
game.
Quote of the day “Winning isn't everything, but the will to win
is everything”
Go SPCC!!!
