Tumhi kashe ahet….. (Marathi for
what’s up people). Hello people. I am back. Coming to the Game. It
was a hot and humid Sunday. Game started around 11.00 am. SPCC won
the toss and elected to bat. Yasir and Anish went in to start the
innings for SPCC. Yasir was playing a restrained innings. Anish was
out lbw on the 6th over. The starting bowlers for PTCC were bowling
a good line and length making it difficult for our batsmen to make
runs. Sumit joined Yasir in the middle and they both set out to play
long innings. Sumit was exuding confidence today and one could see
that in his batting. He played aggressively for his 41 with some
beautiful boundaries and sixes. Yasir soon joined the fray and
things were going well for SPCC.
Sumit became a victim of an
unfortunate dismissal when the short pitched ball kept low and hit
his stumps. Mani joined Yasir in the middle and both of them set out
to play their shots. Yasir got out while trying to clear the
boundary rope. He hit a good and timely 65 runs. In went Baseer and
together with Mani set out to achieve the target that was discussed
at the start of the match. Still 14 overs were left and the target
of 300 was still far away. But the way Baseer and Mani were batting
everybody had a hope that the target would be achieved.
Mani was clean bowled soon
while trying to go for a shot. He made a good contribution of 56.
Enter Trilok. It had been a long time since Trilok played an inning
which he is capable of with his huge talent. But today was the day.
He was playing with great confidence. Some of sixes he hit were huge
one. Baseer in the mean time kept on playing the anchor role where
he kept rotating the strike and where there was a case that the ball
needed to be hit the ball was hit. Baseer hit a good knock of 84.
Trilok contributed 42 runs from the willow. SPCC finished their
innings with 312 runs in 35 overs.
Tarun and Deepak started the opening bowling spell for SPCC. Tarun
as usual bowled a good and tight first over. Deepak too joined the
fray and provided the first break through for SPCC when he had Imran
caught behind by Anish. Deepak was also responsible for providing
the second break through in his fourth over. Meanwhile Tarun kept on
keeping things tight from the other end. Opening batsman Zeeshan was
playing with good confidence and was hitting some good shots.
After drinks Praveen was introduced. What a find this guy has been
for SPCC. What good bowling. He got Zeeshan out on the first ball
when Zeeshan snicked the ball behind and was beautifully caught by
Anish. Soon he ensnared three other victims and ended the match with
4 wickets. Trilok was introduced in tandem with Praveen and it was
Triloks day today. Two of the wickets which he took were a treat to
watch where he had the batsmen completely fooled. He too ended with
a haul of 3 wickets. Thus SPCC got PTCC out in 29.1 overs for 143
runs.
Overall the performance of everybody was really good. There was some
great wicket keeping from Anish today. Batsman understood their
roles and staying firm in the crease. This was an important thing to
do as this was one of the reasons that we lost two games because
batsmen were not playing to their potentials. Fielding was good too.
Remember guys as of today we are in playoffs and our spot on the
MACC playoff list is 10th position. We have three more games coming
up with good teams. So let us all put our focus and energy on
winning those games so that we can occupy a little more higher
position on the MACC playoff list. Would like to thank Abhijit for
doing a great job of keeping everybody hydrated on the field. Amit
also joined the team today. Welcome back Amit.
Today was Tarun’s last game for SPCC as he is leaving for India
permanently. Tarun is a great find for SPCC and is a very good
Cricket player. We are going to miss him. SPCC would like to wish
Tarun all the best in his future Endeavors.
