SPCC won by 163 runs against KECC in their 7th league match on Sunday. A successive victory brought SPCC 4th in the league table.

SPCC Innings
In a hot and sunny morning SPCC skipper Subashis elected to bat first after winning the toss. The in-form opening pair of Sid and Rajesh were determined to face the new ball from Zohaib and Owais. Both the batsmen continued their good form and started in aggressive manner thereby not allowing the bowlers to settle. This lead to constant bowling change from KECC but it dint stopped Sid and Rajesh from flourishing boundaries at ease. Sid reached his fifty in no time and the pair reached their second 100 partnership in as many matches. KECC skipper Zeeshan brought himself to the attack and immediately provided a breakthrough by uprooting the stumps of Rajesh. Rajesh scored a powerful 45. New batsman Swapan came back to the pavilion without troubling the scorer after a mixup caused his dismissal. Baseer joined Sid and both started rotating strikes. KECC skipper Zeeshan bowled very well to force SPCC to slow down. Sid reached his impressive century in the 24th over and both started taking more chances to accelerate the score with some lusty shots. Baseer reached his fifty with a four followed by a 100 run partnership for the pair. Sid got caught for 117 at long-on to the bowling of Ilyas. Kannan was sent to get as much runs as possible in the last 3 overs. In the end SPCC reached a strong 306 runs in 30 overs for 3 wicket with Baseer and Kannan not out at 77 and 25 respectively.

KECC Innings
After a break KECC resumed the chase with Saad and Yasir. Kalyan and his new bowling partner Kannan started the proceedings for SPCC. Kannan got Yasir caught at mid-off by Baseer in his first over. This followed by the wicket of Saqib and Ilyas by Kalyan. Both the batsmen had no answer to Kalyan’s signature swing bowling. The marching order of KECC continued when Majid edged to the safe hand of wicket keeper Vihang. Zohaib and Saad then tried to steady the inning with Zohaib rotating the strike and Saad hitting occasional boundaries. Subashis and Shibraz came in as first and second change but could not get the breakthrough as batsmen were comfortable playing them. As both batsmen were serene to medium pacers, Subashis introduced spin of Pavan and Baseer from both the end. This move brought instant result as Zohaib got stumped by Vihang. Both the spinners mesmerized the bastmen with the flight to get 3 wickets each. Pavan got the final wicket by inviting last man Owais out of the crease and got him stumped. KECC were all out at 143 in 27 overs. SPCC would like to thank KECC for coming all the way to Charlotte and competing with great spirit.

SPCC would like to acknowledge the umpires from CCCC Subbu and Nilanjan for their time and effort.

We would like to recognize splendid batting display from Sid, Rajesh, Baseer and Kannan. Outstanding bowling from Kalyan, Kannan, Baseer and Pavan. Impressive keeping from Vihang who showed great reflexes to claim 5 victims [4 stumping, 1 catch]. Good out-fielding from Kannan, Hemachandar, Anish and Rajesh. Keep up the good work.
