Welcome to SPCC cricket 2009…Under a new reign SPCC started their
2009 season with a friendly match against CCCC…It was a nice hot
summer day to start the season…SPCC won the toss and decided to bat
first
Anish and Wajahath started the proceedings for SPCC. Both of them
were playing positively. Anish hit a beautiful boundary on the
offside and Wajahath ably gave him company…Anish was soon out and in
went Amit. Both Wajahath and Amit build a strong partnership with
Wajahath taking the lead. Amit was nicely rotating the strike. Soon
Wajahath completed a well deserved half century .After that Baseer
and Summit took over. Runs were coming at a slower rate now as both
batsmen were trying to set their eyes. Mani hit some shots at the
end . It was seen that all of the players got some batting
practice…At the end SPCC finished with 191 runs in 25 overs.
Deepak and Miten started the bowling for SPCC. While Deepak was a
bit out of line, Miten given support from the other end, but
struggle to get his line right. Jinal and Shahji kept on scoring
runs briskly. Deepak was soon replaced by Baseer who also kept thing
tight….Subhashish soon came on and as usual was economical…Soon
Jinal was run out and in walked Nikunj…He also played some good
shots..CCCC was always in the hunt and they had wickets
too…Introduction of Mani and Amit slowed down things….CCCC batsmen
started taking chances…But SPCC was slowly gaining an upper
hand…Deepak was introduced for a second spell of two over and ended
up getting 3 wickets. SPCC bowlers had a good second half. SPCC
ended up winning by 9 runs.
