SPCC vs CLCC, Pre Season Game 3, Lakhany Ground
SPCC lost by 44 runs
Deepak Bhat

April 12, 2009

CLCC 184 for 9 in 35 overs (Krunal 47, Jinal 40, Abhi 31, Baseer 3 wkts) lost to SPCC 144 for 10 in 34.1 overs (Baseer 55* runs, Miten 20 runs) by 40 runs

Player of the match: Basser Ahmed

Another beautiful day for Cricket….SPCC was playing CLCC at the beautiful Lakhany grounds….Subashish lost the toss and was asked to bowl. Miten and Venkat Shiva started the proceedings for SPCC bowling…Bothe bowled good line and length…Miten soon stuck in his second over when he had the batsmen playing for the ball and the batsman was clean bowled…He followed up with another wicket when he yorked the batsman,…that was a beautiful ball to watch.. Meanwhile Venkat Shiva as usual was keeping things tight from the other end.

Deepak was introduced as the first change. The SPCC bowler kept on bowling a good line and length not allowing any room to the CLCC batsman….Chetan and Ashish from CLCC were playing cautious innings and were rebuilding after early loss of two wickets. Chetan was soon out when he was beautifully caught by Baseer…It was a great one handed catch. Ashish was the next batsman to go when he was cleanly and beautifully caught by Shiv who was standing in as a wicket keeper. Krunal and Abhi started playing well…Abhi hit some monstrous sixes and Krunal gave him an able support.

After the second drinks break Deepak was brought in again. He stuck on his second ball when he had Abhi caught behind by Anish…Good Catch Anish…And soon Tail came in…Baseer who was introduced for his second spell bowled beautifully and ended taking Three wickets……Vishal also contributed by picking up two wicket…Bowling by Amit, Pavan and Subhashish was good too…Overall SPCC bowlers did a great job of keeping things in check. CLCC finally ended with a score of 184 runs for 9 wickets in 35 overs

SPCC started their innings with Mani and Shiv. It was unfortunate to see Mani getting without scoring any runs; he was bowled in the first over. Amit joined Shiv and both started playing sensibly. They were going for their shots on loose deliveries. Shiv looked very promising on his debut game. Siddharth and Krunal were bowling pretty tight line and length with the new ball and keeping things tight for their team. Soon Siddharth stuck as he got Shiv and very soon Amit. The new pair at the crease, Wajahath and Anish started cautiously but Wajahath didn’t last long. He played a loose shot and got bowled. Baseer joined Anish and they both started building SPCC’s innings. Anish rotated the strike very well and both of them were running hard for their runs. At the first drinks break, we were 4 down for around 50 runs. Anish’s inning was ended when he got run out trying for a second run but he did his role as he stayed at the crease and gave a tough fight to the opponents. Miten joined Baseer and things got better as the Miten started hitting boundaries from the word go. He struck some powerful blows to CLCC’s bowlers and they were clueless. The straight flat six that he hit was worth watching. He didn’t last long but made quick 20+ runs, which included 2 sixes. Rajesh came next but he was bowled by Ashish with a quick delivery. At this point SPCC was in great trouble with only half way through and losing 7 wickets. Subashis, Venkat Siva and Pavan all supported Baseer well but SPCC’s innings ended 40+ runs short. Overall it was a good effort from everyone and a good fighting game.

Go SPCC……..
