SPCC 252 for 9 in 30 overs beat SCCC 244 for 10 in 26.2 overs by 8 runs
SPCC took on SCCC in a friendly game on June 14th. SPCC was given an opportunity to bat first. The openers Anish and Swapan started positively playing some good shots. But both soon were out and in went Sumit and Sid. Both of them played good and set out to make a good partnership. With overs kept dwindling down both of them began to go for their shots. Sid soon completed his half century but in trying to increase the score both of them lost their wickets. Subashis and Venkat chipped in with few runs. After the fall of these wickets Deepak and Siva scored briskly and took the team total to 252 in 35 overs…
Well as for SCCC batting it was a tale of one person. Manfred. He took the SPCC bowlers to the cleaners. While SPCC was getting wickets at the other end Manfred continued his excellent batting. Deepak had a good spell and he was rewarded with four wickets. Manfred completed his double century. With 8 runs left and more than 3 overs to go he tried to slog Amit for a six but was the last man caught out. Thing to note is Manfred scored 206 runs while the other team members just had a score of 10 runs between them. Such was his dominance. Sid finished with 3 wickets and Amit with two. SPCC won the match by 8 runs.
