May 17, 2009
CICC 93 for 10 in 33.4 overs (Saket & Baseer 3 wkts, Amit 2 wkts) lost to SPCC 94 for 1 in 17 overs (Wajahath 42, Shiv 28*) by 9 wkts
Player of the match: Saket Chaudhary
Deepak and Baseer started the bowling for SPCC. Both of them kept things tight. With the conditions being wet the ball had become heavy thus making it difficult for batsmen to score runs. Baseer was soon rewarded for his good bowling when he had the Anu clean bowled. He was rewarded again when he had the dangerous Manfred out caught by Amit. CICC on their part did not look in a hurry to score runs. Saket was introduced as the first change and it looked like it was his day. He kept on bowling good line and length and was soon awarded with wickets. Warren was out, caught by Baseer, off the bowling of Saket. He ended up taking 3 wickets and thus starting his season with a ban. Praveen also collect one wicket. CICC had some new faces in their team and Suresh played a good inning for them. Amit and Subashis were introduced into the bowling. Subashis collected Jeff’s wicket and Amit took two wickets. CICC was eventually bundled out for 93 runs in 23 overs
Wajahath and Shiv started the batting for SPCC. With rain starting to come down any time, these guys knew they had to score runs quickly. Wajahath got out when about 25 runs left on the board. Mean time rain started to come down heavy. CICC should be commended for continue to stay on the field to finish the match in these conditions. SPCC team appreciates the sportsmanship shown by the CICC Captain and his team!
