People here in Charlotte woke up to a gloomy and a rainy day. But
still the SPCC caravan left towards Tangle wood and reached there by
10.00 am. Toss was administered by Subhashish which he won and SPCC
chose to field.
SPCC
bowling was started by Kalyan and Baseer. As usual Kalyan was again
unlucky when he had the batsman snicking but the umpire turned down
the appeal. Baseer too bowled a decent line for his first over.
Praveen came as the replacement for Baseer in the 4th over.
Meanwhile TGCC batsmen had put on a few runs on the score board
without a loss of wicket. This changed when Deepak was introduced
into the attack. In his second over, he had Mayur LBW. From there
TGCC batsmen were always in pressure. Deepak again stuck in his
fourth over when he clean bowled Rahul who was looking to get
set. Subashish and Baseer were brought as changes.
Subashish was bowling a good decent line. After going for a few runs
by the batsmen he got the wicket of that batsman. That was some
sweet revenge. Meanwhile Baseer was the pick of the bowlers. He had
four wickets which were all well taken and were well thought of by
the bowler. Praveen initially after struggling to find some rhythm
finally got into his groove and got two wickets. With these two
wickets he now has 31 wickets for the season. Congratulations
Praveen. TGCC were bundled out for 85 runs in 26 overs.
Sumit and Yasir started the proceedings for SPCC. Both of them were
playing well. Yasir was playing aggressively on one end while Sumit
was playing solid defense from the other end. SPCC soon reached 40
for no loss. But then Sumit lost his wicket. In went Mani. But Mani
too returned back in no time. Rajesh was the next man in. after
scoring a few runs Rajesh too was out. Suddenly from 40 for no loss
SPCC was 49 for 4. At this stage Baseer and Abhijit were playing in
the middle. They started to play sensibly and rotate the strike. But
soon Abhijit too was out to a shot he wished he had not played.
In
went Trilok and the still there were about 30 runs remaining on
board. This was the last recognized pair that SPCC had. Baseer
meanwhile was rotating the strike but with about 20 runs remaining
on the board Trilok was out when he was caught brilliantly by the
TGCC fielder. Well so Deepak was called to do the trick for SPCC.
Baseer and Deepak started to rotate the strike but alas Baseer was
given out to a really bad decision from the umpire.
Kalyan joined Deepak and there were still about 16 runs to go.
Kalyan proved to be a great batting partner who at all the time gave
encouragement to Deepak about completing the task. Even the team was
giving encouragement at all times to both the batsmen. However there
was a nervous moment when Deepak played the ball in the air and was
dropped by the fielder. It was the only catch dropped in that whole
day. Lucky Deepak. Phew…
But
after that both Kalyan and Deepak played sensibly and saw SPCC home.
