Classy Rahul's ton
dominates sorry West Indian Cricket Club
March 18, 2007
SPCC and WICC encountered in the very first game in which inner
circle rule applied. WICC won the toss and decided to bat first.
Rahul and Baseer did not allow WICC openers to take the advantage of
the inner circle and contained them thoroughly. Khurram and Muzaffer
also contained the momentum but it was Subashis, who was the key
bowler of the day. He bowled brilliantly and took three important
wickets.
Muzaffer was exceptional in the field and added three catches to his
record. One of his catches was at the point, when he jumped almost
two feet high and plucked the ball from air. It was an amazing catch
to watch. SPCC managed to rattle all WICC players in 30 overs with
208 runs on board.
A good combination of right and left hand openers were sent from
SPCC stand. Swapan and Muzaffer opened up the innings. Swapan did
not last long. Wajahath also lost his touch and came back quickly.
SPCC were two down with in first five overs.
Then the man in form, Rahul came to crease and change the whole
course of game. He took full advantage of Reedy Creek's small ground
and WICC's pace bowling and recorded SPCC's first ever century. He
smashed 128 runs with 12 meaty boundaries and 11 massive sixes. WICC
bowlers were clueless against dominant Rahul. Trilok also
contributed his valuable 26 runs. Baseer stayed till the end to
cruise SPCC to victory. SPCC chased its target with four overs to
spare.
