A dazzling bowling performance from Praveen and scintillating
batting from Trilok and Mani were the highlights of SPCC win
over CCCC. Praveen was the Man of the Match for his efforts with
the ball.
CCCC innings
SPCC was finally going to play their first season opener after
waiting for a long time. CCCC won the toss and elected to bat.
Tarun and Deepak started the bowling for SPCC. Bharth and Imran
came out to open for CCCC. Tarun gave SPCC first break through,
with wicket of Imran, Mani taking an excellent catch at second
slip.
Subashis and Praveen were introduced after 11th over. But both
Bharath and Jinal were in good form. It turned out to be a great
day for Praveen. He was troubled all the batsmen by excellent
bowling. He accounted 2 wickets in 2 overs. Trilok was
introduced on 17th over and he got rid the danger man Rushabh on
the very first ball, Harish taking an excellent judge catch.
Baseer came in to bowl and he picked up the wicket of Mayank.
CCCC lost 8 wickets after just making 135 runs.
Thunder storms soon arrived to spoil the game. After raining for
about 20 minutes, host team members worked to prepare the ground
to ready again to restart the game. When the game started CCCC
lost one more wicket after adding just one run to the score. But
last pair of Waseem and Amol put a 51 run partnership to take
their score to 187 runs. For SPCC Praveen claimed 6 wickets and
Baseer had 2 wickets. Bharath (40), Jinal (35), Waseem (28) and
Rushabh (26) were the main contributors for CCCC.
SPCC innings
Swapan and Sumit started the innings with good confidence. Waste
and Bharath opened the bowling attack for CCCC. Swapan played
really good and confidently. He was well supported by Sumit.
After Sumit lost his wicket to a LBW decision, Trilok was joined
Swapan in the middle.
Trilok was a treat to watch. He was hitting the ball well and
was constantly putting pressure on the opponent bowlers. Swapan
meanwhile after hitting some splendid boundaries got out. Tarun
was departed with out scoring to make the score 42 for 3. SPCC
did not have too many runs on the board and needed some solid
partner ship. That is what Trilok and Mani provided. They both
played very sensible innings and gave SPCC a good partner ship
of 91 runs.
Trilok was unfortunately run out just after completing his
fifty. Baser was soon on the crease. Mani was also soon out
after completing his fifty. Harish joined Baseer at the crease.
It was left to Baseer to take SPCC to finishing line. CCCC was
not ready to give up and putting up a good show in the field.
Harish hit some good shots but he was also soon out while
chasing a wide the ball. Rajesh joined Baseer and there were
still some 26 runs left to score. Some intelligent batting by
both the batsmen helped SPCC move closer to the target. SPCC
reached its target in the 22nd over with a huge six from SPCC
captain. SPCC won the match by 4 wickets.
