September 20, 2008

SPCC 120/3 (Mani 44, Amit 29)
won against
COCC 119 in 25.5 overs (JD 35, Subashis 4/20, Praveen 3/33, Deepak 2/26) by 7 wickets

Man of the match: Subashis Halder

SPCC team reached the ground by 10.45 am and game started by 11.30 am. COCC won the toss and elected to bat. SPCC bowling was started by Kalyan and Deepak. As usual Kalyan started with his impeccable line and length. On the other end Deepak was also keeping things tight. Deepak soon got the first breakthrough for SPCC when he got the wicket of Paul. He soon would be involved in taking another wicket of Keyur. JD came in at the fall of Keyur’s wicket. He looked to be in a belligerent mood. He had quite a few shots clearing the boundary ropes. Though he was a little ill but was batting really good. He along with Viren got a little partnership going on for COCC

But this partnership was broken, when Subhashis was introduced into the attack. He got Viren playing onto a ball outside off stump and the catch was well taken by Kalyan. Praveen was introduced into the attack and he was at his fiery best. He got the danger man JD out, clean bowled a beautiful yorker. This was first of his collection of three wickets. Meanwhile from the other side Subashis kept his magic alive. What a fortnight this guy is having. Taking 4 wickets each in the last 2 games. Amit too joined the fray and got a wicket. COCC was bowled out for 119 runs in 25.5 overs.

Yasir and Mani started the proceedings for SPCC. Yasir was soon out in the second over to a hurried shot. In went Amit. Mani and Amit started to build up a partnership. They were playing patiently, taking single where needed to be taken. Mani soon got into top gear by hitting a ball out of the ground and followed it with a boundary. Not to be left behind, Amit also joined the party and hit some beautiful boundaries too. Amit got out after a good knock of 29 runs. After playing few more overs, Mani had to retire hurt. He had played a very important and useful innings of 44 runs. In went Baseer who played an important knock of 16 runs. Aditya and Abhijit finished proceedings by taking SPCC to 120 for 3 wickets in 23 overs.
