Entha Suggamano …….(Malayalam for what’s up people) It was a cloudy morning with good amount of humidity on June 22nd. Teams had arrived on the ground till 10.30 am. There was one change. Our captain was playing for the opposite team as they had one player less. Subhashish was our captain for this game. As usual we lost the toss. The curse refuses to go away.

So SPCC started bowling with the new ball give to Deepak. He bowled brilliantly in the first over beating the batsman several time. Sadashiva followed after Deepak and man was in some mood today. He got a wicket of his second ball when he clean bowled Arshad. Soon Shibraz was run out. And we suddenly had Baseer facing us. Sadashiva bowled beautifully and had Baseer plum LBW. It is always a pleasure to take the wicket of batsman of Baseer’s caliber. And soon MCC was 5 wickets down. After the drinks break SPCC sort of lost track and some runs were scored by MCC. Trilok was soon introduced into the attack and he too bowled brilliantly. He ended up taking 3 wickets. On the other end Kartik also kept the bowling tight and ended up with two wickets. Hence MCC ended their inning at 126 all out in 20 over.

SPCC started their inning with Yaser and Sumeet opening the proceedings. And it did not start well. Yaser was clean bowled the second ball of the innings. Rajesh joined Sumeet in the middle. But he too was back soon. Abhijit went in and hit some beautiful shots for boundaries but alas he was back to after that. And hence SPCC was down 3 wickets with hardly any score on the board. Enter Deepak. After some initial nerves Deepak settled down and hit some good boundaries and a six. But he was soon LBW to Baseer who had been hit for a four earlier by him. Meanwhile Sumeet was playing well from the other side. But then a mini collapse resulted where Sumeet and Subhashish soon lost their wicket and hence it was left to Mani and Aditya to steer SPCC to the victory. And that is what they did where both of them played some exquisite shots and saw SPCC home. Hence SPCC reached their target in 21 over.

Overall the performance was good. Maybe we can keep the wides a little bit in control. Fielding was good overall. Have to give a special mention to the dive that Yaser made at point. So we have a league game coming on next Sunday. Let us all carry the good work from this game and out in the game against CICC.
