SPCC vs CLCC, League Game #8, Reedy Creek Park
Fielding errors again proved costly for SPCC.
Deepak Bhat

July 26, 2009

CLCC 306 for 7 in 35 overs (Chetan 118, Krunal 80). SPCC 211 for 10 in 29.1 overs (Baseer 60, Anish 24, Deepak 24)

Player of the match: Baseer Ahmed

It was Hot and a humid day…it was SPCC vs CLCC part 2…SPCC lost the toss and was put into bowl.

Deepak and Mitten started the proceedings for SPCC…Mitten bowled some tight bowling…CLCC lost their first wicket to a run out…Deepak soon had Sanjay LBW and SPCC had started in a good manner...but then last weeks tragedy struck again…SPCC dropped some important catches…Pramod was brought into bowl and he picked up two important wickets of Abhi and Ashish…But the day belonged to Chetan who took all of the SPCC bowlers to the cleaners…He was ably supported by Krunal…Both survived some dropped chances and went on to make big scores…Baseer and Praveen picked up wicket a piece at the end…

CLCC went on to score 305/7 at the end of 35 overs…

Wajahath and Rajesh went into bat first….Wajju was soon out and in went Amit…Rajesh was playing aggressively and hit some beautiful sixes…But he was soon out and in went Pramod…Both Amit and Pramod started playing positively…Both hit some good shots but alas this was not to remain for long…Both Amit and Pramod got out and SPCC was in deep trouble…Now it was left on to Muzzafer and Baseer to do damage control..Muzzafer was playing some good cricket and Baseer was doing well to get his sight in…Muzzafer was soon caught by Manny…In went Anish…Anish gave good support to Baseer

Baseer started to find his shots and hit some beautiful shots out of the park…Anish followed suit and did his stuff by hitting some boundaries and a maximum…But then as it was the trend, SPCC soon lost a wicket again…Anish was caught and bowled and in went Miten…Miten too returned back…Deepak went in and started giving the support to Baseer…Soon Deepak went into a hitting mode and hit some sixes…SPCC soon lost Baseer to a dubious LBW decision when he was well set…After loss of Deepak’s wicket Praveen hit some good shots and was ably supported by Subhashish..

But SPCC was soon packed out for 211 runs in 28.0 overs

Again the main factor for the loss was fielding…We let go as many as 10 catches…Remember we lost by 94 runs…Had we taken those catches we could have got them bundled up for about 210 runs…But now is not the time to despair…we still have 4 games left…SPCC players still have that fighting spirit in them...Let bygones be bygones…Let us all start fresh from the next game…God willing we will win all the remaining 4 games and get into playoffs…Come on people it is time we rally and leave everybody behind.
